Thanks for pressing on!

Hey, NDPeeps! :)

What a hol, yea? Fancy having to meet up to stand under the HOT SUN for most of the Saturdays. hahahah! :-P

We do hope you NDPeeps have had an enjoyable time together - suffering under the HOT sun, eating the not-so-delectable KFC lunches and dinners, munching the Khong Guan biscuits (which suddenly taste rather nice when hungry!), running for cold drinks..etc.

Well, all these are, no doubt, parts of the 'sufferings' we have to endure...till the BIG DAY comes.

What really heartens us is the fact that we are 'enduring' these moments together - AS A TEAM!
Wow! What a mind-blowing thought, u know? How often can we go through a similar experience together as a TEAM?

I understand that some of you out here are disappointed with the attendance - wondering why there are just some people who persistently don't turn up, upset with the way things were done at NDP rehearsals...etc.

Well...there are things we can't control BUT we will always try our best to take good care of all those who "reap and sow" with us. :)

Remember, some of the sweetest things in life can only be experienced through sufferings...and not through happiness...

So, HAVE FUN whilst it lasts! :)

Before we sign off, let us:
  1. THANK our Sec 3 Meiting for looking out for our mistakes during the previous rehearsal at the Marina Float.
We are very pleased with the leadership she displays and we certainly hope to see more of such initiatives rising up from the rest of you!! :)
  2. THANK those who have been 100% punctual for all the rehearsals so far.
Gosh, we are just so so encouraged by the enthusiam and earnest efforts shown by these students. YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE! :D

Of course, having said so much, we really hope you guys will be continued to be spurred on to do your best for the remaining rehearsals and be punctual and obedient.

Always in your service,
The NDP teachers I/C

You guys are great !

Dear NDP dancers,
Hello, having fun last Sat?? :)
I know the training was until very late. About 10++ end. And i guess, by the time you guys went home it was about 11+...
Through it had been a tiring day, i can see you guys really enjoying the training at marina floating platform. Am i right?? Haha, saw a lot of blur faces (including me) during the training..
However, no worry..! Though that was the first training at marina floating platform, you guys did a great job! Despite having to wait under the hot sun for a long time, all for a short dance at the platform, you guys waited patiently(though it is a bit noisy and disobedient).
I'm looking forward to see you guys next sat at 1.30pm SHARP. Please be punctual as i saw some of you came late, about 1.50pm+.
Be punctual and do not keep the rest of the dancers waiting for you.
The mistakes most of you make:
  1. The house with heart balloon inside. The house(there is one side with the yellow window and door) should face the audiences and not facing your body.
  2. The position for your balloon dance(which is the dance i state above), you guys will be standing on the stairs. Please note that, total there should be 7 rows. 1 row there should have 10 person. The position i will discuss with the rest of the leaders. For now, just stand anywhere but with a row of 10 person.

I guess no more mistakes... i will identify again, if there is any.

Another thing is you guys are not obedient. When leaders pass messages to some people, please pass it to the person or people behind/beside you. Dun just stand there and listen without telling the rest. It important for you guys to learn this.. If there any important messages, within 5 mins, the whole NDP dancers should know. Just stay alert and pass whatever messages which was been told by others during the training.. That is the teamwork we need!

Ok, i guess i should stop saying all these.. Have a good rest and drink lot of water. See you soon.

Loves,

MeiTing^^

Take Care Yourself !

Dear Choir,

Hello, long time never see you guys. How are all of you ?? Well, I'm fine! Missing you guys so much..

Now Singapore have 160+ H1N1 cases. Please take care of yourself. Take temperature regularly. If anyone of you has developed flu-like symptoms, please consult a doctor.

Those people who have travelled or are planning to travel to one of the following affected areas - USA,
CANADA,
MEXICO,
AUSTRALIA,
JAPAN,
UNITED KINGDOM,
SPAIN
AND CHILE

- please note that YOU SHOULD NOT REPORT TO SCHOOL OR PARTICIPATE IN ANY SCHOOL ACTIVITY FOR 7 DAYS AFTER YOUR RETURN TO SINGAPORE during this June holidays.

Remember to bring your ODT [thermometer] everyday.

For more information regarding about this, you may log in to your Live@edu account and take a look at the mail.

Of course, please drink more water because of the hot weather. School is reopening soon, which means holidays are going to end soon. That simply means, choir is going to RESUME soon. So, please take good care of yourself and i will be seeing you guys soon..

Our next event, if I'm not wrong, is Founder's Day. Let work together. Sing with our heart, bring out the happiness of the songs and the feelings beneath them. Last but not least, Sing With Pride!

Enjoy your another 1 week holidays!

Loves,
MeiTing^^

Many thanks to the NDP-leaders!

Many thanks to the leaders (namely, Shahir, Meiting, Amanda, Joel, etc) who go the extra miles to ensure that most of us know the NDP dance steps by heart.

Yea, it's tiring...but hang in there, dearies! It will just get better! :D

To those who turned up for the refresher course this afternoon,
once again, thanks so much for your cooperation, time and patience! Really appreciate that. :)

~Lotsa love,
YI Choir teachers i/c

For the Sec 3s...

Dearest Sec 3s,

this will be rather sentimental entry...so, bear with the words, yea? :)

What a journey we have been together... I can still vividly remember the times when I gotta chase after some of you for not attending the PAP back in early 2008. Back then, some of you displayed lukewarm feelings toward Choir (and I am not blaming you)...

Gone were the days when we thought coming together to sing "Let's Celebrate Life" in sync was our best achievement. We cheered crazily at our efforts then.

Gone were the moments when we thought staying back twice a week to practise for "You Raised Me Up" were a big feat...

You guys have truly come a long way... pioneering the spirit of the YI CHOIR. Yea man, YOU ARE THE PIONEERS!!! Can you imagine that? *Give yourself a few seconds to allow that thought to really sink in deep...*Many many years down the road of life, as you think back, I'd bet it will be one of the sweetest memories one can ever have... :)

I think it's precisely that you are the Pioneers, you get to taste the whole process of getting started. It hadn't been easy... And I must say that without you guys, the YI CHOIR history wouldn't be so amazingly colourful...!

Often, mr wong and i would wonder how would the YI CHOIR be like once you people leave us? Would we still get a strong bunch of singers, just like you? Would we be able to produce such great voice, which you Sec 3s have been giving..? Would we have such a wonderful, fun-loving and sensible batch again..?

*tears swelling in the eyes*

Perhaps the next batch of Sec 1s would be better. Nobody knows. But one thing for sure,
NO ONE CAN REPLACE YOU, THE PIONEERS..! Not even the most vocally powerful batch...

You guys are simply fantastic..!! Thank you for bringing so much joy to us... thank you for blessing us with the most splendid SYF experience... thank you for bearing with us and holding on to us despite all the mishappenings...

Most importantly, thank you for BELIEVING & STAYING IN THE YI CHOIR...

Lastly, the NDP '09 would probably be the last major project the Sec 3s have with the Choir. I pray that it will be a tremendously enjoyable and unforgettable experience for all of you. May you cherish it and forge meaningful friendships in the midst of the 'drudgery'. hee!

Good worldly things dun last. May the year 2008 be the most memorable one for you. Hold on whilst it lasts... :)

~Loving you,
ms ang

ATTITUDE needed!

We are referring to the coming series of NDP rehearsals.

Yes, a POSITIVE attitude is needed from all of you. That means -
  • NO COMPLAINTS (despite the long and tiresome training sessions)
  • 100% Attendance (unless you are certified to be medically sick)
  • Good behaviour (display the YI spirit!)
  • GREAT TEAM SPIRIT! (remember how we overcame the SYF..? Please display the same spirit!)

Pardon our naggings, but we just gotta say that it's not a every-year opportunity for our school to be involved in NDP.

Do cherish this once-in-the-life (yea, for most of us!!) chance to be celebrating the nation's birthday with thousands of people. It will be a great fun! (Just imagine singing, dancing and watching the awesome fireworks with your schoolmates and friends from other schools!) Gosh! It will be an unforgettable experience! :D

Lastly, do your part (esp the leaders!!!) by informing all your 'blur' friends about the NDP schedule.

NDP External-Rehearsal Schedule

Here's the NDP rehearsal (out of school) schedule.
  • Attendance is compulsory.
  • Please make sure that you bring water for your own consumption for all the rehearsals.
  • Punctuality must be observed. We will NOT wait for late-comers. The bus will leave on time.

Great job!

The leaders packed the stuff at the end of the session.

Vivian finding the right fit for the Lower Sec gals,
while Yuexi took down the measurement.

A great team of Sec 3s (a few sec 2s) guys

A BIG THANK YOU to the leaders for helping with the 1st NDP costume-fitting session held today.

Many thanks to:

  1. Shahir - for taking the charge of a relatively messy station! hee!
  2. Ruiquan - you just proved that you are capable of handling bigger tasks!
  3. Wei Ming - for being such a willing and joyful assistant. :)
  4. Danial - though you joined in late, thank you for staying back to help!
  5. Zhen Xin - you surprised me with your great sense of responsibility! Keep it up!
  6. Simpson - thank you for being the ever-earnest assistant! :)
  7. Vivian - like the way you get things done fast and well!
  8. Yue Xi - you and vivian make quite a good team. :)
  9. Wei Ying - hope you have fun working with the seniors!
  10. Wei Lin - it's time to unearth more of your leadership qualities!
  11. Meiting - i know i can rely on you to get things done. :)
  12. Amanda - your management skills have improved! Good job!
  13. Hui Fen - my quiet leader. Thanks for taking care of a 'messy' station. :)
  14. Chin Xuan - yea, hope you have fun working with the seniors!

And not forgetting the 'unappointed' heros who offered their help to these leaders!
They are:

  1. Brian
  2. Edgar
  3. Zong Hua
  4. Leon (gosh! I am surprised when this non-Choir-member chap volunteered to help. Guess he likes the company! :)
  5. Kevin Lee

And many more... my apologies if I have missed out your names! I am just too immersed in the awesome team spirit displayed! :D

I must say that you guys have done a good job - maintaining the order, being efficient at getting the real stuff done, cooperative and...wow! GREAT TEAM SPIRIT!

What is more heartening is that the other Sec 3s also offered their service! I see a strong team of Sec 3s willing to spend time and efforts for one another... - something I have not expected. I guess I have underestimated you guys... hee! Time for more 'stretch-tasks'...! :D Indeed, you guys do possess a lot more of leadership qualities! See? You carried out the session without any assistance from the teachers! WELL DONE!

Just keep believing in yourself and yes, offering your service helps to unearth the leadership potential you have!

'nuff said. Keep up the good work! :)

Pleasantly surprised,
~ ms ang

NDP Costume-Fitting Session #1

Hi to all NDP participants! :)

Yea, it's definitely a GREAT HONOR and PRIVILEGE to be involved in 2009 NDP.

Our first costume-fitting session will be this coming TUESDAY! (12 may)

Venue: AVA
Time: 12nn to 1.30pm

I understand that it is the midst of the MYE, and many of you would like to go home early after the Tue paper to revise for the next paper.

However, really seek your understanding and cooperation again. The NDP i/c from the Army can only do it this Tuesday.

To ease the flow and quicken the whole procedure, I am going to rope in many leaders to help out. The list and procedure would be issued on the Tuesday Morning Assembly.

Leaders, please take note. You are on call for service! :P

All the best for the MYE! :)

loves,
ms ang
