The Lion Sleeps tonight Part 2

Dear YI Choir,

Here is another version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by this acapella group "After Hours". Certainly not an easy piece, do hope that our tenors can hit the high notes.

Always wanted our choir to peform something more contemporary or pop. Maybe we can do "What goes around" by Justin Timberlake. There are some nifty moves and we can involve the choir girls too. It will be interesting to see our choir doing this piece. Certainly a show stopper for the coming secondary 1 students.

With regards,

Mr Alan Wong

More videos from the Combined School Choir Concert 2009!

THE YI CHOIR...
our pride!!!

Yes, I believe both Mr Wong and Ms Lee would agree with me… that the YI Choir is our pride. Especially so for the teachers. Often, we feel as though we are her parents… from ‘birthing’ to seeing and helping her grow to what she is today.

Together as a team called THE YI CHOIR, we share the joy, tears, sweats and anxiety during every performance. Indeed, the Choir has grown and matured much since her birth in 2008!

The one-yr-old-plus Choir (yes! we never fail to emphasize this! hahaha!)… definitely our pride!!
I wanna remember this year FOREVER! cos it has marked with several milestones!!

Presenting the latest “achievement” of the CHOIR:
Event: The Combined School Choir Concert 2009 (8 Nov)

White Horses (SYF set-piece) and Marie’s Wedding (SYF 3rd piece)

Songs performed after the Intermission are:

HongKong Disneyland Performance

Dear choir,

The Hong Kong trip in March 2010 will cost around S$900 per student for 4D3N. Some of you will be entitled to subsidy from edusave or internationalisation fund. The foreign students will not have any subsidy unfortunately. More details will be released once we checked your particulars with the office. For the local students, do prepare your parents' payslips when school reopens.

Do start saving money now, especially your Chinese New Year angbaos. This is something like a graduation trip for the present secondary 3 students and I really hope that all 76 of you can make it. Until then, have a fabulous holiday and rest well.

With regards,
Mr Alan Wong

Combined Choir Concert at Raffles Hotel, Jubilee Hall

Dear YI Choir,

On behalf of Miss Ang and Miss Lee, I must congratulate you people for a successful and wonderful performance. You people rise to the occasion once again. Seeing you people perform at the side of the stage gives me immense pleasure and pride. It's like watching your kids growing up and getting married. Gosh! That sounds so sentimental.

At this point, I must thank Victoria for all her efforts and contributions to the YI Choir. She is starting a new life in Australia with her family and on behalf of all the teachers, I wished her the best in her endeavours. Victoria was very sad at the end of the 8 pm performance. She asked me if this is her last choir performance and I replied, yes.

Victoria, If you are reading this blog, do stay in contact with all your friends in the YI Choir through this blog and other means. Do come visit us during your holidays.

Anyway, do enjoy the videos of the performances that day. It is captured using my handphone on the stage right that night, so the resolution is not very good.

First we have,

Homewardbound, Nona Nona and Ye Lai Xiang (Do look at Zhen xin during the swaying part in Ye Lai Xiang, he looked so "Hiao", Ha Ha!)

Next we have White Horse and Mairi's Wedding, you people looked gorgeous in your black and white uniform, very professional and chic.

At the start of the whole concert, the five choirs presenting the phantom of the opera,

I am not allowed to upload the videos for Paradise due to copyrights issue. Once I get the green light, you people will be able to enjoy Simpson's solo performance on this blog.

My dear choir, do rest well over the holidays and I will see you people next year for the HongKong trip. Again, congratulations to you people for maturing and being consistent in your singing in this short period of time.

With regards,

Alan Wong
